How this is calculated

As of Nov 5, 2026. This is a simple simulation, not an official forecast. It uses the games played so far, which is very early: two league games and seven Flex games.

Rules MLS NEXT has published. A win is worth 3 points, a tie 1 and a loss 0, and teams are ranked by points per match. The Homegrown Division Cup field grows to 48 teams per age group, filled through league play, the Pro Player Pathway or MLS NEXT Flex. At Flex, teams are split into groups of four and seeded on Sept–March league results, and each group winner clinches a Cup spot. The 14 Flex Conference winners race for four first-round byes. MLS NEXT Rules & Regulations

Not published, so assumed. MLS NEXT hasn't published how many Frontier finishers or national places qualify, or how big the 2027 Flex field is. The base case assumes 36 of the 48 Cup places go to the 120 U17 Homegrown clubs in the eight conferences (the rest to MLS academies in the Pathway), so the cut line is the top 36 by points per match, or winning the Flex Conference. It assumes the Flex field is the top 60, copied loosely from last year's 76-team Flex field per age group. The ranges show other cut lines: 30–48 places for the Cup and 50–76 for Flex.

Data. Homegrown standings for all 120 U17 teams, and the 14-team Frontier Flex table where ALBION is 4–2–1 and 4th. LeagueTables.soccer

Method. 20,000 simulated seasons. Each team's remaining games are drawn from win, tie and loss chances based on its points per game so far, pulled toward the league average as if it had played six more average games, with 20% ties. Final order is by points per match. The Cup figure is top 36 or the Flex Conference title (about 5%). The Flex figure is top 60 or Cup.

Limits. It ignores opponent strength, home and away, injuries and the exact fixtures other teams have left. Treat it as a rough guide that will move every week.

Flex League means MLS NEXT Flex play: a second set of regular-season games, with its own Flex table, alongside the Homegrown schedule. Flex results help seed teams for MLS NEXT Flex (Apr 29–May 4, 2027, Atlanta), the last qualifier for MLS NEXT Cup. Source Flex games that end level are decided on penalties and are shown here as draws, with the shootout result noted. The Flex record and table place come from the results shown here. Last season (2025-26) the team finished third in its Frontier conference. Source

Only games confirmed by the sources below are shown, and the Flex schedule may be incomplete. The Apr 10 game at FC Dallas is now in the official MLS NEXT schedule; its time and field haven’t been posted yet. MLS NEXT Fest (Dec 2–13, Mesa) is listed as a showcase. U17 plays on Dec 2, 3 and 4; opponents, times and fields haven't been published yet.
